Project Summary

The Roma national minority is a marginalized social community in its full meaning, irrespective of the EU country concerned and the status of its development. In addition to children, Roma mothers and fathers are particularly vulnerable, as they are at a level of very low functional literacy and poor life and work competences. Young Roma women very often become mothers at a very young age, and often, like young Roma fathers, they are completely unprepared for the parental role, the role of the caregiver and the preparation of their children for life. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the competences for the life of young Roma mothers and fathers and to increase their competency in daily life. This is based on eight EU key competences that will underpin the development of andragogical and pedagogical curricula and syllabuses that will serve as an educational tool in the sustainability phase of the project to enhance the life competences of Roma parents, especially mothers. The project will include partners from Croatia and three foreign partners from countries with the same problems of Roma families. Throughout the 24 months of the project, all partners will synergistically implement a curriculum based on the EU's core competencies, but substantively related to the real, daily lives of the Roma. All partners will work according to the planned methodical and methodological rules. The development of the project will utilize innovative, interactive learning and teaching styles, and in particular examples of good practice. All partners will, therefore, require a high level of pedagogical, andragogical and organizational skills. The exchange of good practices and a high level of project co-operation are at the heart of this project.
