Procedures include structured pathways for validation of learning outcomes, training for assessors and guides, as well as mechanisms for quality assurance of validation processes. Instruments are tools that make learning outcomes visible or help to assess them. A snapshot is given below of two of the case studies which will feature at the VPL Biennale, May 7.-8. in Berlin.

The project responds to a need of the methodology of storytelling and different educational tools for all educators practicing teaching and animation of children, teens and young adults in schools or youth centers etc. 


Der er positive takter at spore i udviklingen af realkompetencevurdering (RKV) på voksen-, efter- og videreuddannelsesområdet (VEU). Det viser en evaluering lavet af Danmarks Evalueringsinstitut (EVA), der særligt belyser udbredelsen og anvendelsen af RKV i perioden 2010 til 2018. Før armene suser i vejret, skal det dog bemærkes, at der eksisterer en række forbedringspotentialer – bl.a. i forhold til kvaliteten.

Erasmus+ KA204 project about validation of prior learnings in adult sector

Agrupamento de Escolas Martinho Árias is a public school in the municipality of Soure, based in the middle of Portugal (2h distance from Lisbon, to the north, and 1h30m distance from Oporto  - to the south, just in the middle of those 2 cities). Our school has more than 1400 students, from 3 years old till 18 years old, plus all the adults we have in this sector (more than 200).

Au moment de la rédaction du projet Erasmus+ « EMVOI » - partenariat stratégique pour l'enseignement et la formation professionnels, il n’existait pas sur le marché d’outil permettant l’évaluation, la formation voire la certification des gestionnaires de projets européens (EUPM – EUropean Project Managers). Cela est désormais révolu puisque le projet EMVOI (2016 – 2018) a vu la création d’un outil en ligne permettant l’auto-évaluation, la formation (apprentissage autogéré) et l’accompagnement vers la certification ISO 17024 (instructions).

EPALE National Support Service issues an electronic magazine each month tied to the thematic focus on EPALE. The magazine contains a selection of most read blogs on the platform translated into Serbian and other articles relevant to adult education in Serbia and Europe.

In accordance with the EPALE monthly focus the magazine in December 2018 dealt with Volunteering in adult learning.

Training Course: ECVET – practical issues

The school of the future is beyond the walls of your school and beyond the boarder that surround your country when it comes to developing competencies and acquiring a given vocational education and training qualification. Mobility of citizens – workers and students – in Europe is increasing and has been encouraged by several European initiatives, such as, the initiative 'Youth on the move', a Europe 2020 initiative, which aims to improve results of education systems and to facilitate the entry of young people in the labour market, in particular through programmes of study, learning and training, financed by the European Union, as well as platforms designed to help young people to find employment in the Union. In this way, the number of I-VET learners who take up the challenge of participating in a European mobility programme during their academic training is also increasing. At the European level, namely for the education authorities in each country and the schools themselves, the challenge is the transparent validation and recognition of learning outcomes and qualifications acquired abroad. The European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET), established by a Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council on June 18, 2009, is a common methodological framework that facilitates the accumulation and transfer of credits allocated to learning outcomes from one qualification system to another. Its objective is to promote transnational mobility and access to lifelong learning. This training course will provide you with knowledge and competencies on how to put into practice the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training – ECVET – as well as with practical methodologies and tools previously tested in a project and considered by the Portuguese National Agency as a good practice.

The presentation by Martina Ní Cheallaigh (European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) sets the context of the European Council's recommendation on Upskilling Pathways with a special emphasis on adults without upper secondary qualification (or equivalent). The presentation provides overall data on the skills of the target group, it highlights relevant elements of the recommendation and guides the reader through the main details of the Upskilling Pathways in terms of priorities, deadlines and challenges.
