The activity rate in the EU has continued its steady increase since 2008, in particular for older people, though not yet for younger people, as highlighted by this edition of the Employment and Social Situation Quarterly Review. Employment rate has returned to its pre-crisis level but with a much wider gap between countries, from 55% in Greece to 80% in Estonia, Germany and Sweden. The publication also stresses that permanent and full-time jobs continue to increase, though at a slower pace than in 2014.

If we are to achieve a significant and lasting reduction in unemployment, we must speed up job creation. However, support can also be beneficial. By facilitating job matching, it can have a positive effect both on the numbers of people concerned who get back into employment and on the overall functioning of the labour market.

This Guide illustrates how training and skills development could successfully be developed and implemented in small and medium-sized companies despite both the internal and external barriers SMEs face in this context.

Based on a number of thematic topics, this Guide starts with the typical challenges SMEs regularly face when it comes to training and skills development. The Guide describes how to cope with them and develop innovative and successful solutions, e.g.:

A European Union funded project supporting workplace learning in the manufacturing, metal, chemical sectors and beyond has produced ‘Developing Workplace Learning’, a toolkit for trade unions.  Using a six-step approach the toolkit provides a series of ideas, suggestions and templates to support trade union representatives in their discussions and negotiations with employers. It follows joint union work across six countries over the last year – Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and the UK -  with a version of the toolkit available in the language of each country.

Companies wish to improve their employees’ skills for a specific job; employees have an interest in developing skills that can generally raise their career and employment prospects. But can these potentially conflicting goals be balanced? Can workplaces become learning places where workers of all levels are encouraged to improve their knowledge, skills and competence?

Om laaggeletterdheid onder vrouwen te verminderen, is hiervoor binnen het project Taal voor het Leven speciale aandacht. Deze aanpak, genaamd Educatie voor Vrouwen met Ambitie (EVA) richt zich nadrukkelijk op vrouwen van 30 tot 55 jaar die Nederlands spreken en hun basisvaardigheden willen verbeteren. Vrouwen die deelnemen aan EVA, willen graag (vrijwilligers)werk vinden of een opleiding volgen.

Voor Nederland en Europa is een leven lang blijven leren een speerpunt. Met de toenemende globalisering, robotisering en technologische ontwikkelingen veranderen de eisen die aan werkenden worden gesteld. Scholing vormt een antwoord hierop. In Nederland nemen jaarlijks ruim 1,5 miljoen volwassenen deel aan scholing. In deze thema-analyse wordt vanuit verschillende belangrijke bronnen de stand van zaken rondom het leven lang leren in Nederland getoond.

Het doel van dit artikel is een beeld te schetsen van de stand van zaken rondom een leven lang leren in Nederland op basis van een aantal beschikbare gegevens van CBS. De volgende vragen zullen aan bod komen:

  • Wie neemt deel aan een leven lang leren?
  • Wat wordt er geleerd?
  • Waarom wordt er geleerd?

De vragen worden beantwoord op basis van de Enquête beroepsbevolking (EBB), de Adult Education Survey (AES) en het onderzoek Bedrijfsopleidingen. De cijfers en statistieken zijn verzameld tussen 2010 en 2016.

Ši ilgalaikė darbuotojų nuoma galėtų pagelbėti švietimo sistemoje.

Le Conseil d’orientation pour l’emploi (COE) a adopté un rapport sur l’accompagnement vers et dans l’emploi. Alors que l’offre d’accompagnement des actifs, en emploi ou non, est abondante et diverse, le Conseil a voulu répondre aux questions suivantes : - quelle est la nature et l’intensité des besoins d’accompagnement ? - quelles sont les bonnes pratiques pour favoriser le retour à l’emploi ou un meilleur positionnement sur le marché du travail ? - quelles orientations devraient être mises en œuvre pour renforcer la pertinence, la qualité et l’efficacité de l’accompagnement ? Le rapport décline dix priorités.

In the wake of the technological revolution that began in the last decades of the 20th century, labour market demand for information-processing and other high-level cognitive and interpersonal skills is growing substantially. The Survey of Adult Skills, a product of the OECD Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), was designed to provide insights into the availability of some of these key skills in society and how they are used at work and at home.

Programom Vlade Republike Hrvatske za razdoblje od 2011. do 2015. godine te Strategijom razvoja poduzetništva od 2013. do 2020. godine nastao je „Poduzetnički impuls“ 2015. Temeljem takvih programa postignuti su pozitivni pomaci te rast ukupnog gospodarstva bez obzira na gospodarsku krizu. Sektor malog i srednjeg poduzetništva za 2013. godinu pokazuje porast investicija u visini od 19,83%, čime su i ukupni prihodi porasli za 5,6%, kao i broj zaposlenih te izvoz.
