British Red Cross: Lesson Plan Migration
This visual educational resource, provided by the British Red Cross, is a lesson plan for Seven to 16 year olds, as well as adults and students aged over 16.
The resource is visually interactive and teachers/trainers will need a way of showing photographs so that all students can see them and refer to them during the lesson. The story behind the photos is slowly unfolded, at each stage inviting students to think about and comment on what is or seems to be happening. The combination of a strong narrative and a real life story has proved successful for teachers in many settings. The learning outcomes are deliberately non-specific about the story, to assist those educators who share them with students at the start of the lesson.
Learning outcomes include:
- Gaining a wider and deeper understanding of the practical realities behind one of the major global issues of the 21st century.
- Students will explore their own and other people's humanitarian instincts and behaviour.
The copyright holder of all photographs, Arturo Rodriguez, has very kindly agreed to let them be used for educational purposes and in this format. Please respect this by not using them in any other way.
