EPALE - ríomhArdán d’Fhoghlaim Aosach san Eoraip

Looking for KA104 partners

CFPA Presentación Sáez is a Spanish prison school in Picassent, Valencia.
As members of the Erasmus+ Programme, we have designed a K-104 project focussed on job shadowing as a learning experience and are currently trying to establish a link with an adult prison school elsewhere in Europe. We wanted to contact prison schools in Europe to establish fruitful connections and hopefully visit some schools.

Please, see below and read the project sumary:

School Context:

FPA Presentación Sáez is an adult school located at the Picassent prison in Valencia (Spain). Our school staff members are 13 Primary and 4 Secondary teachers.

The onsite prison education programmes offer several courses in different levels and areas:

  • Primary Education (Cicle 1).
  • Secondary Education (Cicle 2)

Non-formal education:

  • Spanish for foreigners.
  • English.
  • Computing.
  • Yoga.
  • Music.

Inmates over 24 can attend our preparatory courses for specific university entrance examinations. Our students are inmates who come from all continents.

FPA Presentación Sáez is as a matter of fact a multilingual and multicultural educational establishment. Our students are inmates with specific learning needs and hard to motivate because of a particular set of reasons: deprivation of liberty, school failure and belonging to disadvantaged and vulnerable segments of society.

Our school staff are preparing the so-called teaching mobility action, a KA104 project.

We wish to carry out a job shadowing programme at other European prison school. We are also interested in teach training courses abroad.
Our school is interested in observing other schools and professionals on the job and learning new educational approaches and methodologies. We believe that this activity will have a positive impact on the quality of our job and our teaching provision.

One of our main goals is improving our competences as teachers. One of our aims is as well to serve as a bridge to similar schools in other countries, to share our experience and expertise and to volunteer as a host school, especially to European prison schools interested in knowing our job here.

Our project focusses on three main areas: language learning, ICT and art. Our goals are:

  • To improve the competences of teachers in these areas.
  • To learn new language teaching methodologies and offline ICT approaches.
  • To improve the quality of our teaching.
  • To foster social and labour market inclusion among prison inmates
  • To improve the effective use of new technologies and inmates’ language learning skills.
  • To foster artistic and cultural key competence for lifelong learning.
  • To improve “learning to learn” as a key competence for lifelong learning.
  • To increase inmates’ self-esteem and socialisation.
  • To help inmates step away from the prison environment and break with business through music, music therapy and non-verbal language.

The project has been designed by the school leadership team and several teachers interested in job shadowing and teacher training abroad. All of them have extensive experience in the field of education in prisons, literacy, basic education, secondary education, language teaching (regional, national and foreign languages) and music.

Expected outcome:

As stated above, our main goal is to improve the quality of education provision in our school by incorporating new approaches and teaching methodologies.

We want to play an active role in creating a school which is active, dynamic, open and modern. This will hopefully give prestige to our school and provide a visible reference across Europe. We hope as well that this project will establish a first contact with other prison schools and that this will further consolidate our programme in the next few years and create bonds that foster future projects.

Hi, if you are looking for a partner from Belgium, please let me know. We are organizing courses in 3 prisons in the North of Belgium. Grtz
    Dear Gert
Thanks for your email. We are happy  to establish contact with you and your organisaton.  We have just submitted our KA104 project and the authorization is pending.
It seems that your organisation is not a prison school or prison teaching service. We are an on-site prison school.
We would like to know  a bit more about your  organisation:
    - What is the relationship between you organisation and the prison?
    - Is your idea to job shadow us, to host us or both?

    Kind regards
