Association Vita for help after brain injury from Slovenia was a coordinator of international project of Lifelong learning in the field of culture for people with special needs.
The project lasted from August 2013 to July 2015 and was intended for obtaining, developing and expanding cultural knowledge, competences and skills in an informal way on the field of culture, first and foremost for people who are in some way injured or disabled.

The goals of the project are: get to know the local and national culture of all partner states, visiting a partner state and attending a cultural program that they organized, getting to know each other, socialising, transmission of good practices – mutual exchange of experiences about the methods of working with people with special needs, regular mutual communication with partners, publishing the latest content on a shared blog, designed especially for this project, expansion of results inside and outside the partnership at the local, national and European level.
The project helped in reducing deprivation of persons with disabilities, increased involvement in cultural events, helped to obtain hand skills, expanded creativity, strengthened their linguistic skills, raised self-esteem and efficiently integrated them with other participants. Cultural study program in each partners’ state lasted 3 days.
As a coordinator we organized two meetings in Slovenia in association Vita. At the first introductory meeting of all partners and organizations representatives we got to know each other and agreed on the course of the project. The second meeting was in January 2014 with cultural workshops and sightseeing Slovenian most beautiful places. Third meeting was in Larnaca – Cyprus in May 2014. Forth meeting was in Krakow – Poland in September 2014. Fifth meeting was in London-England in March 2015 and final sixth meeting was in Turkey in June 2015.
Each mobility and program was very interesting and special. Partnership has created an interesting and creative environment for informal learning. Impact of this project has had very good effect on all the participants, it has increased the motivation, attention, will and desire to learn about other cultures and language, meeting new people and learn new things.
The project lasted two years, but it went very quickly… During the project we were constantly in contact with all partners via email, skype and blog, in each country, where we published lots of articles, photos, videos that were made for partnership and also for local needs of every partner.
In these two years people with disabilities, their assistants and people working on this project had an exclusive opportunity to learn about national culture of each state and country when travelling, to make new contacts with foreign participants, to develop their language skills and knowledge. They had a chance for social inclusion and to express themselves through cultural programs and events. All participants very happy and excited that they could go on mobilities and to participate in the program.
Partners within the project also developed mutual trust that we will do our tasks as we agreed. We also made promotional materials, organised mobilities and drafted program of learning, organised dissemination of the results of the project and final report. Mutual help and sharing knowledge and experiences was very helpful and useful. Because the cooperation was so well, it was like we became one big family or one organisation, working all together.
