Kris Van den Branden
Kris Van den Branden, a teacher educator and professor of linguistics at University Leuven, was one of the presenters. Het stated that over the past 25 years the world has changed drastically. But have compulsory and adult education changed as well? Have they managed to keep up with the pace of change driven by digitization and globalization? Does adult education prepare learners for the demands of the 21st century? What, ultimately, should adults learn to improve the quality of their lives, find a good job and function in society? And what kind of education works best? What insights have we gained from research into the impact of education on learning?

Recently Kris published a book 'Onderwijs voor de 21ste eeuw' (in Dutch -Education for the 21st century) in which he describes the main challenges the educational field faces in the highly digitized and globalized society of the 21st century.

Here you can find the slides of his presentation at the celebration of World Teachers' Day.
