YUVA

YUVA is a non-governmental organization in Turkey which aims to bring together the concepts of adult education, poverty eradication, nature, and human rights.
YUVA has two main programs, namely Earth Citizenship and Human Development. Various projects are implemented under these programs and supporting non-formal education and life long learning is one of its main missions. YUVA is a member of the European Adult Education Association (EAEA). YUVA operates nationwide with headquarters based in Istanbul.

Under Earth Citizenship Program YUVA operates a Learning Center in Istanbul providing educational activities on ecological literacy, climate change, active citizenship, migration awareness, and human rights. The main target groups are young people and adults in Istanbul.

Under Human Development Program YUVA works with disadvantaged groups and communities including refugees, minority groups and poor neighborhood communities. We provide skill development training including VET and language tranings and career counseling plus we implement social cohesion activities. We also work with teachers and Ministry of Education to increase the capacity of providing education in multicultural environments and avoiding dropouts. One of our founders, Özge Sönmez, is a Malala Education Champion in Turkey on the education of girls.
