Irish Childcare Scheme Information for Parents

Given that a lack of accessible, affordable childcare is often a barrier parents face to education, the Irish National Childcare Scheme may be of interest to many of those working in adult education. From October 2019 The National Childcare Scheme will replace all previous targeted childcare programmes in Ireland, with a single, streamlined and user-friendly Scheme to help parents meet the cost of quality childcare. Supports are available for families with children aged between 24 weeks and 15 years who are attending any participating Tusla registered childcare service, including any Tusla registered childminder. Wicklow County Childcare Committee are holding an information session for parents to explain how the new scheme will work. It will also explain how parents can prepare in advance to register for their MyGovID account, which is required in order to access the National Childcare Scheme subsidies. Therefore educators may find this information session an appropriate event to refer students (or potential students) onto with questions about their childcare options. The information session will take place in Blessington Education Centre. It is free to attend but registration requested here
