Program Izzivi podeželja – UŽU IP je namenjen manj izobraženim prebivalcem podeželja, ki želijo izboljšati svoj ekonomski in socialni položaj ter so motivirani za izvajanje dejavnosti na podeželju. Glavni cilj programa je, da udeleženci s pridobivanjem temeljnih znanj in spretnosti lažje prepoznavajo in vrednotijo lastne potenciale ter možnosti podeželskega okolja z vidika samozaposlitve. Program je del zbirke programov UŽU – Usposabljanje za življenjsko uspešnost, ki so namenjeni razvoju pismenosti odraslih.

This project aimed to raise levels of essential skills in the employed workforce through increased and enhanced essential skills support within the workplace.

Working in partnership with employers, the project raised awareness of the benefits of a skilled workforce and provided additional support to address identified essential skills.

The purpose is to greatly diminish the number of adults with poor essential skills. As an estimated 47% of adults with essential skills needs are in work, it is vital that employers and the workplace are engaged in the solution.

The Adult Literacy and Numeracy Curriculum Framework for Scotland advocates the Scottish approach to adult literacy and numeracy learning and teaching. This social practices approach puts the learner at the centre, working to a curriculum negotiated around his or her own uses and contexts for literacy and numeracy, and aims to promote independence and critical awareness.

The framework's purpose is to:

  • promote the Scottish philosophy and approach to adult literacy and numeracy
    in whatever context they are delivered

McDonald’s offers all employees literacy and numeracy training. The response has been very enthusiastic and employee turnover has dropped to its lowest ever level. A constant review of the programme ensures that it meets user needs.

In Deutschland leben 7,5 Millionen erwachsene Menschen, die nicht richtig lesen und schreiben können. Mehr als die Hälfte von ihnen ist erwerbstätig. Die vorliegende Studie zeigt, dass viele Betroffene entgegen der gängigen Auffassung offen mit ihren geringen Lese- und Schreibkompetenzen umgehen: Kollegen und Arbeitgeber wissen häufig von funktionalen Analphabeten in ihrem Umfeld. Der häufig offene und unkomplizierte Umgang mit funktionalen Analphabeten bietet Chancen für zukünftige Maßnahmen im Bereich der arbeitsplatzorientierten Grundbildung, zeigt aber auch klare Grenzen.

The survey is a product of the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The survey assessed the proficiency in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving in technology-rich environments of adults aged 16–65. This publication is the product of the Nordic PIAAC Network, consisting of members from all five countries.
