The Tackling Poverty learning partnership (2013 - 2015) supported the exchange of good practice and knowledge around the delivery of adult learning to tackle issues related to poverty. The project built the capacity of adult educators to develop strategies to engage the hardest to reach in adult learning. Lifelong learning can make a major contribution to sustaining economic and social well-being. However those who could benefit most from engaging in adult learning generally participate in lower numbers.

The members of the International Network for the Analysis of Intergenerational Relations (Generationes) proudly present the most recent issue of the jointly produced compendium “Generations, Intergenerational Relations and Generational Policy”.

This new version includes seven languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish (New) and Portuguese (New)). Its layout is designed for using it to translate the specific concepts and terminology of research into generations and intergenerational relations from one language into another.

U okviru UNESCO-UNEVOC-ova e-Foruma održana je dvotjedna virtualna konferencija na temu Vještine za kreativne industrije. Na konferenciji su sudjelovala 153  stručnjaka za tehničko i strukovno obrazovanje i osposobljavanje (tSOO) iz 64 zemlje. Virtualna konferencija je stimulirala raspravu i razmjenu saznanja te povećala razumijevanje sudionika o tSOO-vome mjestu u kreativnim industrijama. Važno je i to da je pružila priliku UNESCO-UNEVOC-u za istraživanje veza između vješte radne snage i kulturnoga sektora, jednog od vodećih UNESCO-vih programa.

Neue empirische Ergebnisse zeigen, dass ein breites „Mitwissen“ über Lese- und Schreibprobleme existiert: In Deutschland kennen ca.  40 Prozent der Erwachsenen jemanden, der oder die auffällig fehlerhaft schreibt oder sogar große Schwierigkeiten beim Lesen und Schreiben hat. In der Familie, unter Kollegen und Freunden gibt es „Mitwisser“, die die Betroffenen über Lernmöglichkeiten informieren könnten; eine „informelle Weiterbildungsberatung“ nennt dies der Autor. Das beschriebene Potenzial wird jedoch nur in geringem Umfang genutzt.

Luxembourg’s vocational education and training (VET) is highly differentiated. Apprenticeships and school-based VET coexist. While some features may seem similar to those in other countries, taking a closer look is important to understand national concepts and terms. Luxembourg’s education and training system reflects its geographic and socioeconomic context: its small size, the close ties with its neighbours, its multilingual nature and high share of foreign nationals, and the well-established cooperation with social partners.

The report 'Barriers to the use of technology in family learning' has been published by three learning organisations, SCOLA, NIACE and the Campaign for Learning. It is funded by JISC as part of project to support family learning practitioners and adult and community learning professionals to embed the use of technology within teaching and learning. The report presents the findings of a survey conducted with 131 practitioners and 88 learners on the barriers to the use of technology in family learning.

In his 2013/14 Annual Report for further education and skills, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector raised concerns about the apprenticeships on offer in England.
