Taal voor het Leven is een pilot programma lopend in 2013-2015 en wordt uitgevoerd in 6 regio’s in Nederland. Taal voor het Leven geeft diegene die zijn/haar basisvaardigheden wil verbeteren de kans om dat in de eigen vertrouwde omgeving te doen. Honderden lokale partners werken samen in een krachtige combinatie van taalvrijwilligers, professionele docenten in de buurt, kwalitatief hoogstaand lesmateriaal met goede mogelijkheden om het geleerde toe te kunnen passen in de praktijk.

Video about 2nd chance education- From the streets to the catwalk. At the age of 14 Fiorella run away from home. Drawn into crime and drug abuse she says her life fell apart. She spend several years in prison before finding herself homeless on the streets of Bologna in northern Italy. Then in 2002, after a spell in hospital, she was told about Piazza Grande, the organisation that helps to provide work and accommodation with projects funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund. It offered Fiorella a training course in dress making, an activity she had always enjoyed.

Kula Agalu used to live under constant pressure trying to combine care for her children and her 71 mother with her job as a cleaner. But since 2007 her mother has been going every week day morning to a day care centre in their village Famagusta in Cyprus. She enjoys the company as well as the outings and activities. The scheme is run by the 'Never home alone programme' cofunded by the European Union through the European Social Fund.

At the age of 61 he found about a project to support elderly house bound people co funded by the European Union by the European Social Fund. Now he is employed six hours a day as a social assistant.

She tried different sorts of work experience without much success so she took a month's training at the school of 2nd chance co funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund. It enabled her to get a professional diploma and find the apprenticeship she really wanted at a local at a local garden centre.

This report presents comparative results from PIAAC for Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The five countries are labeled Nordic countries in this report. Iceland is not included because Iceland did not participate in PIAAC.

OECD published international PIAAC survey results in October 2013. PIAAC (Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies) is an OECD project, which has covered 24 countries to date. The international OECD report is the most comprehensive study of adult skills ever undertaken.
