This section continues the activities begun in section 4, looking at how to develop social investigations using numerical and mathematical skills.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the section, participants will:

  • Consider some aspects of the social application of numbers
  • Explore how, through the use of numbers/maths, learners can be encouraged to develop their social awareness and  critical thinking skills
  • Develop a programme of work for learners that recognises the links between personal, community and global issues
  • Where feasible develop an activity for learners that recognises the links between personal, community and global issues
  • Prepare a presentation
