The CEPER Victoria Kent, located in the penitentiary center of Malaga -Alhaurín de la Torre, has been training its students for years in both Basic Training and Secondary Education for Adults (ESPA) and also offers a wide range of training for students who have already graduated.

With the philosophy of this objective, the school works on the development of strategies that help not only to attract students, but to motivate them to stay in school.

In this context, we have students who mostly come from a depressed socioeconomic background, with physical and/or psychological limitations and possible addiction problems. In addition, these people tend to have low motivation to study and find themselves in a situation of depression or apathy and with certain difficulties for coexistence.

For all these reasons, robust strategies adapted to the environment are required, which are materialised in plans and projects, which contribute to establishing the bases for the projection of their future in society. Some of these plans and projects are: foreign language teaching, ICT, Entrepreneurial Culture, Check Room and the Village Programme: Environmental Education, among others.

Aldea, Educación Ambiental para la Comunidad Educativa is a programme of the Consejería de Educación y Deporte and the Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Desarrollo Sostenible which is configured as a tool to favour the development of the key competences of the students, the exchange of educational experiences, teamwork, the creation of professional networks, project work or other active and innovative methodologies which propitiate, in short, a change in environmental behaviour with our environment and which affects daily educational practice.

In this sense, the centre has an Environmental Classroom of approximately 800m2 that has been carried out in collaboration with the penitentiary centre. Many activities are carried out in this space and it has become a key element for the recruitment and continuity of the students in our centre.

Each group has the possibility of creating its own garden in an area destined for this purpose, which they take care of once a week. In this way, collections of different types of plants have been created: aromatic, cactus, fruit trees, etc.

Other activities are recycling, initiation into vertical gardens, seedbeds and recovery of plants in greenhouses. In addition, due to the favourable environment, joint readings, craft workshops, meditation workshops and retreats are carried out.
