Drama for Language Learning: Embodied Language
During 2019 EPALE Ireland and Léargas hosted regional workshops on 'Drama for Adult Language Learning'.
The workshops focused on using drama as a tool for language acquisition. They examined teaching language through inclusive games, improvisation and scene study with a special focus on exploring grammar points through movement and action. They encouraged student collaboration and ownership of this process, by using relevant and reflective materials important to their personal experience and needs.
Miriam Stewart led the workshops to much positive feedback. She is a CELT accredited ESL teacher and drama facilitator, with a Masters in 'Drama in Education'. Miriam runs teacher-training workshops to explore the use of drama in teaching second languages. I would highly recommend Miriam to anyone looking for a facilitator on related topics. She also facilitate English through drama courses for ESL schools.
Below you can find Miriam’s presentation, ‘Embodied Language’. It includes a number of different references that you can explore further.
