Closing EPALE conference held in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The national support service of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized the closing EPALE conference 2018 in Stanišići, Bosnia and Herzegovina, November 13-14. The topic of the conference was Prison education which was the thematic focus of July on EPALE.
The conference was opened by Agency Director Mrs. Maja Stojkić Maja Stojkić and Mr Siniša Gatarić, PhD, who emphasized the significance of EPALE platform in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The first day was dedicated to the presentations from the regional national support services from Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia. Gordana Bošković from NSS Montenegro, Marica Vukomanović from NSS Serbia, and Mario Vučić from NSS Croatia have presented the adult education systems of their respective countries and the role of EPALE within the system as well as the results and the impact that the EPALE project has had in their countries.
The second day dedicated to the topic of Prison education was opened by Ms. Branislava Knežić, a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, who gave a very interesting lecture entitled: Education in prison: social and/or scientific oblivion while Mr. Milan Potkonjak, professor of pedagogy, reflected on Education of prisoners in the system for execution of criminal sanctions in Republika Srpska.
The conference was closed with a workshop lead by EPALE ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Svjetlana Tubić, focusing on three topics: Education and training of prison staff, Adult education programmes/agenda, Prisoner education for a comeback to the community (post-penal approach).
