ECO project new MOOC is on: “Videos for teaching, learning and communication” by the University of Manchester

Keel: EN

Inscriptions are open to enroll in the new MOOC course launched by European Commission-funded ECO (E-learning, communication and Open-data). Designed and developed by the University of Manchester, “Videos for teaching, learning and communication” provides a range of assessed modules relevant to today’s web 2.0 world. It constitutes a ubiquitous, accessible and tailored tool for further learning to enhance employability and continued professional development.

Content will be delivered through video based learning where the teacher will guide the participant through a step by step tutorial with on-screen instructions. Learners will have choices throughout the MOOC to move onto more advanced levels, or complete the basic tasks which range from webcam and audio recording to creating and sharing videos on YouTube, utilizing a wide range of open resources, video editing, etc. To further learning, additional non-assessed modules are also available free of charge.

The course is 100% free and caters for both the Windows and OS X operating systems. Software used throughout the course is also 100% free. It can be completed with simply any laptop with a built in microphone.

Videos are filmed using High quality 1080p HD videos with professionally recorded audio. For those with limited internet connectivity videos are also available in lower bandwidth options.

Sticking with the theme of web 2.0 technologies, the course will be assessed using peer-2-peer methods. This means that your "classmates" will be marking your work and giving you feedback on what aspects of your work they loved and what needs some improvement. Participants will also have a chance to learn through communicating and share ideas, methods and information with other participants through the forums, as well as to get involved in discussion on the course social media websites Facebook & Twitter.
