2021 is sure to bring new, perhaps unforeseen challenges, but it also offers an opportunity to strengthen the contribution that community & voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises can make to economic and societal well being. These challenges and opportunities will all occur in a political, fiscal and overall environment of ongoing uncertainty due to the impact of the COVID-19.
We are delighted, therefore, to announce a special Meet the Party Leader (virtual discussion meeting) for members of The Wheel on a number of broad topics affecting them on Friday, 29 January (8.30am to 9.30am) featuring two of Sinn Féin's key spokespersons on community and health sector issues:
- David Cullinane, TD, Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Health.
- Paul Donnelly, TD, Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Rural and Community Development.
As the main opposition party in the Dáil, with a quarter of first preference votes at the last General Election, Sinn Féin is in a strong position to support, promote and further the priorities and needs of community-based endeavour in 2021 and beyond. And to ensure through its Oireachtas Committee and other Dáil and Seanad that the sector's concerns are prioritised to the maximum extent.
The meeting will allow an opportunity both to hear current policies and proposals of Sinn Féin on these issues and for those attending to highlight their own experience and proposals on necessary new initiatives.
We encourage all members to join this meeting.
