The Media & Mental Health: Delivering a Duty of Care Conference will consider how media industries can ensure they deliver a legal duty of care and limit the negative impact on mental health. The event will draw together opinions from a range of platforms, including those who work in or develop policy for the mental health sector. Confirmed keynote speakers include Noel McDermott and Andy Bell.

The conference aims to:
- Compare international policy that aims to regulate against harmful online material
- Discuss the importance of local news in connecting communities and how to sustain the local news industry
- Consider the government’s online harms white paper
- Discuss the influence that 24/7 news can have on mental health
- Consider how to deliver a duty of care to media professionals
- Learn about the statutory duty of care
- Address the issue of ‘poverty porn’ and how this contributes to prejudicial attitudes
- Explore how mental health services including the NHS and educational institutions can work with media to promote positive attitudes towards mental health
