The general standards of achievement for basic adult education in Serbia were developed during 2011 and 2012 within the project “Development of educational standards for the completion of elementary adult education” by the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation with the support of the project Second Chance - Development of functional adult education system in Serbia. Standards were published in June 2013 in the Rulebook on General Standards of Achievement for Primary Adult Education ("Official Gazette of RS", No. 13/50)

Teacher competences represent individual capacity for performing complex activities in educational work. Competences are a set of necessary knowledge, skills, personal values and attitudes ​​of teachers. Teachers play a central role in improving education, as they directly influence the learning and development process of students.

Outcomes for Physics course are developed to enable the course participants to gain basic scientific literacy, solve simple issues related to measuring, motion, energy, electricity, simple machines, etc.

The educational standards mostly describe the requirements adults need to resolve issues in everyday life. The course participants who achieve the educational standards of physics will be able to work, trade and live with their families in a more cost-efficient manner. The educational standards are designed to be easy to understand to the course participants. Formulations are also adjusted to employers as one of possible criteria for employment, helping them to assess the suitability of the knowledge and skills acquired for actual needs of a job. Employers know that the persons they hire are competent to react in situations that could endanger safety at work.
