Jelena Bojović, a Community Story from Montenegro
I am 33 years old and I am a teacher at the Public Institution Secondary Vocational School Niksic, Montenegro. I graduated from the University of Montenegro - Faculty of Philosophy Nikšić - Department of Pedagogy specialising in (Spec.Art) Pedagogy. I have 10 years of experience in an institution that is a licensed organiser of adult education. My field of work involves planning, programming and evaluation of educational cooperation at all levels and with all participants in the educational process - with students, parents and other family members of students, teachers, school staff (principal, professional associates) and with the wider community. Since becoming part of EPALE, I have developed a special interest in education, training and support for adults. The organisation in which I work (Public Institution Secondary Vocation School Niksic/ Montenegro) has a license from the relevant Ministry and our school helps adults to gain qualifications in English language and computer skills and knowledge.
I have been active on the EPALE platform for four years, since 2016. I heard about EPALE through cooperation with the Centre for Vocational Education, at various educations and trainings. I have been active on the platform since Montenegro joined the EPALE project in January 2016. My experience so far has been extremely valuable. Trainings, educations, conferences, presentations, workshops, participation in the development of manuals for adult education, have all enabled me to apply practically the knowledge I possess.
- This period was an "experimental" moment for all of us. It has tested our patience, limited our freedom, and forced us to balance family obligations with work at home. At the same time, we have discovered new learning skills. I have improved my knowledge of digital communication and the organisation of distance learning. The Covid "situation" made my job a lot easier and developed my connection with education and with the unique goal of achieving a successful education for my students. During this period, we have used online conference meetings. These were well-received and we will continue to use them in the future, both as teachers and students. I took well to the online learning process, as evidenced by the satisfaction of my students and the results they achieved.
- My job and task during this period were to set up, organise and run the entire electronic platform system of our school. It has been an immense challenge. The active contribution and active participation of my students and the excellent results, with a one hundred percent pass rate, speak of the satisfaction and positive effect of distance learning.
In the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, I think we will approach everything differently.
We will appreciate close contact more, value our digital skills more, improve our communication skills and personal values and virtues, and we will approach different problems in a calmer way.
If we stop working on ourselves and on developing our knowledge and lifelong learning, we will be less prepared to respond to all of the challenges that lie ahead.
