SET C. - COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING CURRICULUM FOR ADULT EDUCATORS

Are you a teacher or trainer working with adults? Are you interested in learning about what makes a good adult educator or what learners expect from teachers?

The SET C. project (Strength Empowers Teachers’ Competences in Adult Education, project number: 2017-1-HR01-KA204-035390) is aimed at improving skills and competences of adult educators.

In order to assess competences of adult educators, the project partners conducted questionnaires on adult educators’ competences and the needs and expectations of adult learners. The questionnaires, as well as the summary of results given by a total of 500 teachers and 500 learners from the partner countries (Croatia, Poland, Sweden, Lithuania, and Latvia), are available on setc.dante-ri.hr. We believe they provide valuable insight into the opinions of teachers and learners in adult education, as well as what competences and areas are key for the professional development of adult educators.

 

The results of those Questionnaires were used to develop the Competence Development and Training Curriculum for Adult Educators (download here).

The Curriculum includes the following competence development areas:

  • interpersonal communication,
  • teaching and learning methodology in adult education,
  • new teaching approaches in education – critical thinking,
  • ICT in teaching, and
  • foreign language communication.

The main aim of this Curriculum will be to improve and upgrade the skills of adult education teachers and to ensure they have the qualifications of a "competent adult education teacher/educator".
