Ta-Boom Tools

"Ta-Boom Tools" is an educational toolkit-package to work on taboos through storytelling.

1. "Ta-Boom Stories" is a series of 9 mini-books in multiple languages (English, Italian, Spanish, Maltese), a collection of folk tales and real stories from different countries that tell us about taboos. The topics are: Emotions, Racial discrimination, Gender based violence, Virginity, Power abuse, Domestic Violence, Mental Health.Downloadable here:

3. "Ta-Boom Diaries" is the diary of the non-formal activities implemented during the period of the local activities of the project "Ta-Boom" in Spain, Malta and Italy.Downloadable here:

The tool has been piloted with a multicultural group of Europeans and migrants (including second generation, refugees and asylum seekers). Folklore as cultural heritage can contribute to the recreation of cultural identity; traditions and customs, which involve the cultural heritage of centuries (Dundes, 1984), have the power to consciously or unconsciously penetrate into the soul of a person, and to shape his or her identity.European heritage and identity are not only built up by Europeans (The Development of European Identity/Identities: Unfinished Business, 2012); we have learned how much European culture and traditions have been and are influenced by nations outside of the European Union.

The (re)discovery of folktales and legends of EU member countries and of those countries outside the EU people migrated from; the identification of common elements that represent common values; and the mixed use of traditional storytelling method can help participants to understand that culture can be something we create together. By remembering and valuing the past, and creating something new we will promote the philosophy of “unity in diversity”.
