This workshop aims to develop questioning skills and interrogation. During the workshop we will exercise different types of questions and identify the intention behind them. A question with a clear intention behind allows us to dig deep into the issue, whether we want to understand or to reflect, but also to problematize and challenge. For trainers questioning is essential for debriefing/discussions sessions and for coaching. Through questions we can evaluate whether our participants gained insights, knowledge, ideas. A skilled trainer knows that these insights, knowledge and ideas must be problematized - even if these meet the learning objectives of our activities - in order for the participants to doubt their own ideas, prevent them from becoming convictions. In this way debriefing sessions takes the form of a critical reflection. That is why critical thinking is not only a cognitive skill but also an attitude: one has to detach from oneself and be flexible.
During these workshops you will learn:
- How to formulate comprehension questions
- How to formulate reflection questions
- How to formulate problematizing questions
- How to identify hidden assumptions

Format:
The workshop is a not a lecture. It takes the format of a structured discussion. During the workshop we will work on a series of exercises. The trainer will also use critical thinking on you in order to arouse self-awareness about your own attitude and to identify certain blockages.
Target: trainers, youth workers, educators, coaches

My name is Victor Manciu, I am 30 years old and I have 8 years experience in youth work and training. I am the MA student at Philosophical Counseling & Consultancy Master Program, West University of Timisoara, Romania. During 2015-2017 I was a fellow trainee at INSTITUTE OF PHILOSOPHICAL PRACTICES (Paris) under the tutorship of Oscar Brenifier and other practitioners. During these two years, I was trained in philosophical practice and critical thinking in order to work with groups and individuals and to conduct coaching sessions. Since 2017 I organize Critical Thinking workshops with youngsters and students under the project called "Critical citizenship". I use Critical Thinking from a philosophical practice approach in workshops with various themes: strategic thinking, communication, personal development, coaching, active citizenship and participation, ethics and philosophy etc.
