The management of migration and the integration of migrants are among the central challenges of this time in many regions of Europe. An alliance of municipalities and civil society organisations from several European countries joined forces in 2016 to work together on integration and acquire new knowledge and skills. With the help of the "Europe for Citizens" programme, it was possible to intensify the exchange between the partners in a joint project.

from our experience that change in our professional life is more of the rule rather than the exception. We need to adjust ourselves to many new demands in our personal and professional life: new life tasks like caring for others, new job tasks, unexpected changes like job loss or wanted ones like getting that job that we want very much.

The workshop explored dual professionalism, sustainable curricula and sustainable technology in vocational education, and how this relates to the need to upskill and develop the education workforce.

According to Dave Hagendyk from L&W Cymru ‘a Personal Learning Account could make a big difference to you!’

For learners aged over 19 who are in employment but earning under £26,000 a year, a Personal Learning Account is a great way to gain a higher level of skills or switch careers by accessing part-time study on specific courses.

Currently being piloted in two colleges in Wales, it is hoped that it will become available in a wider range of sectors and geographical areas.

The education sector, and in particular adult learning, plays a central role in the social and economic integration of migrants. For some time now, the migration-related changes in our societies have also been leading to changes in adult learning institutions themselves. In order to develop effective learning strategies for learners with migration experience, it is essential that migrants and/or their representatives and organisations are actively involved in the development of adult learning programmes in the medium- and long-term.
