European policies projects and funding

This news article describes a number of developments and current topics of conversation within High Education and universities. It covers the trend in ‘unconditional conditional’ offers, the return of the post-Study work visa, the Universities and Science Minister’s commitment to continued participation in Erasmus+ projects and the long-running argument over the cost of university fees.

Birmingham City Council is accepting applications for grants to the value of £2,250 that will enable the receivers to deliver English language acquisition activities over a period of twelve months with refugees and migrants. There are two funding rounds, the first ending on 30 September 2019 and the second ending on 31 October 2019.

Trainings for the staff of started on 31 October 2018, General Directorate for Lifelong learning and ended on 15 March 2019 in the context of the Project called European Agenda for Adult Learning, implemented by Ministry of National Education. Trainings were provided in 7 pilot provinces (Malatya, Mardin, Manisa, Eskişehir, Bursa, Ordu, and Hatay) for the staff working in 81 Provincial Directorates of Supervised Freedom Directorates who gives guidance to supervised freedom convicts and ex-convicts.

Trainings for trainers working at Public Education Centers of MoNE was completed in 7 pilot provinces (Eskişehir, Malatya, Bursa Ordu, Hatay, Manisa, , Mardin) between the dates 20 February 2018 and 4 May 2018. The trainings were conducted in the scope of European Agenda for Adult Learning -4 Project which is implemented by Directorate-General for Lifelong Learning of MoNE and financed by EU, aiming to improve the basic skills of adults, especially ex-convicts and supervised freedom convicts, and raise awareness for their employability, besides setting up an institutional cooperation in line with the aim.

Although creativity and innovation are considered one of the key driving forces in modern economies, to date there have been few approaches concerning creativity and innovation management. There are also very few educational approaches applied at the interface of continuing education, institutes of higher education and business that systematically promote these skills and competencies.

Erasmus+ Certified Digital Accessibility Training project started in September 2018 in order to meet the specifications of the European legislation,  Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies, which directs that all websites and mobile apps of public sector need to be accessible to all by the year 2020. The project includes 6 partnering organizations from four participating European countries: Slovenia, Poland, Greece, and Spain.

On the summer of 2017 we discovered with joy that our Erasmus+ KA1 project, for which we had applied several months earlier, had been accepted. We took our time to get everything ready while talking to Partner institutions and looking for training courses, and it wasn’t until summer of 2018 that we started an experience that forever changed our views on education and European citizenship.

Everyone must be able to manage their own performance and some must also manage others. What kinds of skills are needed in this and how can one develop them?

Dvodnevni dogodek predstavlja sinergijo dveh procesov, ki ju je na področju izobraževanja odraslih sprožila Evropska komisija in se uresničujeta v regiji.

Field research on the employment of ex-convicts and probationers

Surveys were carried out with 8,243 employers active across 81 provinces of Turkey and 1,890 ex-convicts and probationers as part of the "European Agenda for Adult Learning 4" project carried out within the Ministry of National Education General Directorate for Life Long Learning with backing by the European Union. The main purpose of these surveys is to determine the issues regarding the employment of ex-convicts and probationers in Turkey, and to reveal the views of these people and as well as employers on this topic.

The MATCHSI Toolkit was developed to help those hoping to gain work experience to match with an ideal host company, ensuring that learning is appropriately targeted and useful. The project brought together partners from seven EU countries. The Toolkit and accompanying resources can be downloaded.

A case study for Erasmus+ project Migrants and Refugees as Re-builders, which describes the experience of an adult educator working with migrants and refugees in Sweden. It explores the challenges faced by migrant learners, the approaches educators can use to address these challenges and how they can support inclusion. The project team has created print and online materials to generate meaningful conversations between educators, learners, policy-makers and stakeholders, as well as a curriculum, self-assessment framework and a set of indicators for analysing someone's engagement with society.

EAEA (European Adult Education Association) on UP-AEPRO -hankkeessa kehittänyt verkkokurssin aikuiskouluttajille ja muille aikuiskoulutuksen parissa työskenteleville. The Next 24-25 september, 2019 in New Your, professionals and institutions are going to propose solutions to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This is an Erasmus+ funded project which aims to design and implement effective training tools for enhancing key skills and competences of (a) highly-skilled refugees and (b) the language teachers who work with them, and so enhance the employability and societal integration of skilled refugees.

This PowerPoint is from the 17th EPEA (European Prison Education Association) Conference, which took place in Dublin 12-16th of June. In it Alan Smith explores the EU's interaction with prison education throughout its existence, as well as gathering together links to relevant EU policy, reports and actions. 

The OBADE project: Open Badges and Adult Education is an Erasmus+ project, which was successfully concluded in May 2019.  Within the framework of OBADE, 7 partners from six European countries have explored the possibilities for implementing digital badges as a tool for recognizing non-formal adult knowledge. 

The European Commission has recently published a new synthesis report on the current situation of national adult learning policies and systems across the EU-28. The report brings together findings fron a set of full country reports updated in 2017. The report reflects on the complex adult learning policy and financing frameworks, national targets and interventions, as well as their strengths and weaknesses and the reforms that are needed in the systems that are in place in Member States.
