EPALE

Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

European policies projects and funding

Are you planning an Erasmus+ project on this topic and are you still looking for European project partners? There is a contact making seminar taking place from 1 to 4 December 2019 in Cologne, Germany. It is an excellent opportunity for finding partners for Erasmus+ projects. Take your chance!
EU4EU – European Universities for the EU – is the project which support the growth of European businesses and the access to employment of university trainees. You have time until the 29th of October  to register your organization and to access to the matching phase in which you will be able to choose the more suitable candidate for your organization’s needs.

The project ALMIT - Acceleration of labour market integration of immigrants through mapping of skills and trainings, aims at faster integration of migrants into the labour market and overcoming language and cultural barriers between migrants and local population.

The target group of the project are adult migrants who are legally residing in the countries covered by the project (Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and Austria) and who have expressed their intention to obtain asylum in these countries.

Through the project, participants involved in activities in Serbia have the opportunity to attend Serbian language classes and to go through intercultural and civic education sessions, as a basic prerequisite for finding a job in Serbia.

On this occasion, we spoke with Ivan Topalović, project Coordinator and Marija Milosavljević, Assistant Trainee, from the Belgrade Open School (BOŠ), who shared with us experiences from the implementation of this project in Serbia.

The management of migration and the integration of migrants are among the central challenges of this time in many regions of Europe. An alliance of municipalities and civil society organisations from several European countries joined forces in 2016 to work together on integration and acquire new knowledge and skills. With the help of the "Europe for Citizens" programme, it was possible to intensify the exchange between the partners in a joint project.

There is little methodological professional material, - particularly ones related to adult learning – that may be of good help to organizations and professionals wishing to introduce work-based learning Therefore this project - in the context of which such a complex methodological handbook has been developed that promotes the introduction and effective application of work-based learning forms, the learning outcome-based training plans in adult vocational education and training across Europe - fills a large gap.

On the basis of the Carer+ Digital Competence Framework, a complete programme structure was developed, containing a total of 5 interrelated modules organised under 3 themes:

  • Foundational skills
  • Managing social care with ITCs
  • Providing home care through ICTs.

The Virtual Learning Environement was created by using Drupal Commons and Moodle 2.5: 5 platforms were created: an original one in English and 4 for the piloting partners in their local languages (France, Italy, Latvia, Romania and Spain).

It explores the challenges faced by migrant learners, the approaches educators can use to address these challenges and how they can support inclusion. The project team has created print and online materials to generate meaningful conversations between educators, learners, policy-makers and stakeholders, as well as a curriculum, self-assessment framework and a set of indicators for analysing someone's engagement with society.
