Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

IÐAN fræðslusetur is a non-profit continuing education provider serving numerous trades in Iceland. Our courses are designed for skilled tradespeople who have finished their trades education, trade masters and for managers in companies in our industries. We are a tight-knit team of 25 people situated in Reykjavík. Some of us have been with the company since it was founded over ten years ago.

Literacy, numeracy and social skills are fundamental to master typical situations in everyday working life. Competence deficits in this areas can prove to be an obstacle to permanent and successful integration into the labour market especially for migrants, refugees but also for locals. This is where the ERASMUS+ project “Workplace Basic Skills” kicks in!

Scottish colleges will be welcoming Digital Ambition Roadshows in autumn 2019 – students and staff will be asked what they think learning will look like in the future and their responses will then be used to develop a ‘digital ambition’ for the country. Six colleges will be receiving the roadshows, which are listed in the article.

The INNORESOLVE project (2017-ES01-KA202-037932), funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, which aims to contribute to increasing high quality learning opportunities for owners and managers of foundry companies by improving their digital skills and innovative practices in order to be ready to face the challenges of Foundry 4.0, is coming to an end.

Dear EPALE community,
I would like to inform you that we have successfully started our Erasmus+ project (ID: 2019-1-SK01-KA204-060805). The aim of the project is to improve the quality of adult education in career counseling, the development of talent and soft-skills of the unemployed, in order to find better employment and satisfaction in their lives. Moreover, this project will also help career advisors to use new tool in their consultancy.

We got an amazing experience to be invited to the EPALE Conference 2019. We gained new knowledge, information regarding the adult learning, also about how to use the platform and how we will be able to leverage it in the future.

We also got an opportunity to share our experiences with EPALE platform. As we are starting now our Erasmus Plus projects, we will be even more aware of all great features, which is offering EPALE for project implementation and dissemination.

Thank you again team EPALE, EPALE Slovakia, we really appreciate to get this opportunity.

After two years of continuous work, our Erasmus+ strategic partnership "Languages, Opening Gates to Society" (LOGS) has finished. Four organizations from  four different European countries were involved:

  • The Finnish Folk High School, Gothenburg, Sweden (coordinator)
  • CFA Catalonia, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain (partner)
  • Jazyková škola Poprad, Czech republic (partner)
  • Tartu Folk High School, Tartu, Estonia (partner)

The objectives of projects were:

People over 15 who cannot read and write? According to the PIAAC study (1), in Austria only 8.4% of the population can do that at the highest level and close to one million people are extremely deficient. Nevertheless, most are afraid of going to basic education programs that support learning to read, write, and calculate adequately.

Delegates enjoy lunch and network at the conference

At the EPALE UK and Learning and Work Institute joint conference, I was lucky enough to attend a highly engaging and informative workshop delivered by Cerian Ayres, with input from James Maltby. The workshop explored dual professionalism, sustainable curricula and sustainable technology in vocational education, and how this relates to the need to upskill and develop the education workforce.

At Southern Regional College (SRC), we have spent decades building on what came before and bring that experience forward to meet the challenges of the present. An international two-year partnership with several other EU countries allowed for the development of an online equality and diversity programme supporting migrant, refugee and asylum seeker communities.

Equal opportunities for social participation—the central objective of publicly-funded adult learning—are essential in the area of digitalisation, too. General adult learning can be a strong partner for improving life skills in a digitalised world. Read how the German National Strategy for Continuing Education aims to reach this target in this blog post.

The ever-increasing financialization and complexity requires financial literacy to be an integral part of the research agenda and of global policy making, in particular in the EU. SUCCEED's partnership was composed of expert educational organizations such as CONFORM (Italy), BICERO (Slovenia) and FUNIBER (Spain) and a wide range of business support organizations: a business incubator, The Hive(Italy) and many networks of enterprises such as SATEAN(Romania), Italian-Luxembourgish Chamber of Commerce (Luxembourg), RES and CBE (both from Belgium).

It includes a course, trainer guidelines, evaluation tools and e-learning platform.

Technology Skills 2022: Ireland’s Third ICT Skills Action Plan sets out priority actions to meet Ireland’s needs for graduates skilled in computing and electronic and electrical engineering to support and drive economic performance over the coming years.

The plan is informed by research conducted by the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN). The ambitious targets in the plan will increase the total number of graduates with high-level ICT skills by more than 5,000 every year by 2022.

This is an Erasmus+ funded project which aims to design and implement effective training tools for enhancing key skills and competences of (a) highly-skilled refugees and (b) the language teachers who work with them, and so enhance the employability and societal integration of skilled refugees.
