The measures implemented in order to slow down the spread of the virus have brought about a process of change in the field of adult education. Almost overnight, this has led to the long-awaited digital explosion becoming an integral part of our lives. A lot of people now work, negotiate, study and teach from home. A few months ago, there were only a handful of examples of digital tools being used in adult education.

COVID-19 is going to have lasting effects on the economy, which rendered the spread of sound financial knowledge even more crucial, enabling individuals to better manage their personal and professional finances. Rather than viewing this pandemic as a dead-end to their work, Marija Elena and her colleagues are therefore perceiving this as an opportunity to further digitalise their initiatives, whilst making sure that this is in line with the needs and demands of their target audiences.

In this project they concentrate on finding paths for unemployed women, raising awareness about this subject and about equal recruitment as well as specific questions concerning the unique challenges faced by immigrant women, and also closing the gender gap between different professional fields.

| by EPALE Moderator

The third edition of the EPALE Resource kit reaches you while European societies are slowly and cautiously reopening after the long months of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During these months, educators have been reflecting on, and discussing, the future of adult learning. How to rethink educational activities when the sector has experienced such abrupt changes and disruption? What have we learnt from this emergency situation, both in terms of challenges and opportunities?

We want to recognise the efforts of the Erasmus+ community in achieving this objective by presenting projects which stand out for their impact, contribution to policy-making, innovative results and/or creative approach which have led them to obtain the “Success Story” label from the European Commission. It is hoped that they may be a source of inspiration for others!

The mastery of certain IT tools as well as the desire to continue doing the work she loves (and she loves doing together!) have pushed Sara's colleagues to try to adapt their offer in the face of the emergency situation and to use it as an opportunity to acquire new skills. This experience has taught them a lot and has "forced" them to use new tools. It was certainly a triumph and a continuous learning process that allowed them to continue to carry out the mission of their association despite the current situation.

"With rapid changes in information and communication technologies, it is no longer sufficient for language teachers and pre-service teachers (PTs) to know how to use existing digital tools. They also need to be digitally literate in order to critically evaluate such tools and platforms for safe, wise, and productive use. Within a qualitative approach, this study investigated Turkish PTs’ conceptualisation of digital literacy. This included an exploration of how PTs defined this concept, what kind of tools they used, and for which purposes they preferred to use digital tools.
