Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe



The EBSN EPALE Team is glad to announce its first online course for policy-makers, experts and other professionals who have a stake in basic skills policy and are currently engaged in the implementation of the Upskilling Pathways recommendation. The four-week long MOOC is addressing the policy level of basic skills provision in the context the Upskilling Pathway.

4th International Meeting of partner organizations, The HR Club of Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic), Together (Bulgaria) and CooLabora (Portugal) took place on 14 April 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Erasmus+ project „Gender Education Advancing Competencies in Context of Changing Europe“ is financed by the European Union and the implementers discussed further progress of emerging Gender Blended Learning.

E-learning training related to gender equality will be launched during May 2019.

TÜBİTAK research project titled “Development of a learning environment to support parents’ competencies of raising digital citizens” started on 15.09.2015, which was initiated by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Işıl KABAKÇI YURDAKUL, the researcher at Anadolu University Faculty of Education Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology has been concluded on 15.09.2018.

EPALE national support service in Serbia announced the winning blogs on the recently finished Call for blogs on the topic "Digital and online adult learning".

A total of 29 authors participated in this contest, whose aim was to promote best practices, innovative methods of learning, successful individuals, organizations and institutions in the field of adult education in Serbia.

The Education & Training Foundation (ETF) have now launched their Enhance Digital Teaching Platform. The platform will enable teachers, trainers and assessors to understand the potential of incorporating digital technologies to improve the experience of their learners. ETF will be providing several platform training sessions over February 2019 and March 2019, allowing users to become confident in using the platform and giving them the opportunity to ask any questions they might have about it.

Despite the annual tourism statistics, which emphasise an increasing number of visitors to European wineries, training courses on wine tourism are rare. Indeed, to this day, only two universities offer training in the œnotourism sector, those being Universidade Lusófona in Portugal and Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.

At least 1 in 8 students are neurodiverse (this includes conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, ASD and Developmental Language Disorders) but not all students arrive at college with a diagnosis or have had previous support for a variety of reasons. This may include moving around the education system (Looked after Young People) and lower recognition of traits in females.

Using online robust tools for screening for neurodiversity and assessing studying skills at induction allows for practical and student-centred support for those who require it in a timely manner.

Interactive apps can also support the student when moving from college into work. The Do-IT Profiler accessible web-based system allows this to happen.

Most research has shown that there are at least 1 in 3 people in prison who have one or more Learning Difficulty and/or Disabilities. Different conditions have been included under this umbrella such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia (also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder) (DCD) or Dyscalculia, Developmental Language Disorders (DLD), and Learning Disabilities. While often considering each condition in isolation, the reality is that they all often overlap and so each person will have a unique pattern of strengths and challenges. Up till now it has been difficult to deliver a practical means of identifying needs and delivering practical support. Using neuroscience and technology, this can now be achieved.

Providing digital education for volunteer work in the field of migration: As migration continues to be one of the central topics in the European Union, it has become clear that many of the support and integration programmes for refugees are only possible thanks to volunteer work. Supporting the volunteer sector in the countries of the European Union is therefore a cardinal task and one upon which the Innovation in Learning Institute at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg has placed particular emphasis, especially in terms of digital adult learning. This is a final report of "DigiWBL" project (Digital Methods in Work Based Learning in Vocational Education). In this Erasmus+ Strategig partnership project Central Ostobothnia Vocational College (Kpedu, FI), Myerscough College (UK) and Joniskis Agricultural College (LT) built a network to exchange experiences and benchmark how digital tools and methods are used in work based learning (WBL) periods of adult students in vocational education.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the definition, dimensions, and effects of the concept of Digital Citizenship, which comes into our lives because of the development of information and communication technologies. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the concept of e-government, online shopping, internet banking, and social networks and discusses the important concerns in the light of in-depth literature review.

Certification of education and training is not a new concept in Denmark or other countries, as several forms of certification and accreditation already exist, but certifying vocational courses offered via e-learning is a new development. In this context, e-learning is treated as an overarching term which encompasses blended learning as well as purely web-based learning (distance learning). The pilot certification scheme covers descriptions of the objectives, content and organisation of e-learning courses, taking into account the participants’ prior learning.

Najčešći uzroci neuspešnog onlajn obrazovanja u visokoobrazovnom kontekstu proizilaze iz tendencije da se tradicionalne obrazovne postavke implementiraju u onlajn obrazovna okruženja. Preciznije, visokoškolski nastavnici u onlajn obrazovanju se često posmatraju kao superiorni nosioci znanja i njihova simplifikovana uloga je da ta znanja prenesu studentima, dok su studenti pasivni usvojioci znanja.

Most of the research efforts were made to investigate digital competence of teachers in secondary schools. However, little attention has been paid to the analysis of digital teaching competence of andragogues in adult education institutions. The aim of the study is to analyse the digital teaching competence of adult educators in Lithuania. The empirical study was carried out in Lithuania in 2017. Data collection was based on a questionnaire. The sample included 120 adult educators from various adult education institutions.

This resource was created by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership ‘We Are One’ – Altogether Better. It is an e-inventory focusing on the discrimination of minorities in Europe, considering the reasons behind discrimination and what support can be offered to improve the experiences of minority groups. The partner countries include the UK, Spain, Italy and Sweden.

The two resources were gathered by Focus Groups as part of the DIGIT project. The target groups (adult educators, adults and other relevant stakeholders such as digital experts and public body representatives) were brought together to discuss the issues, dangers and opportunities of the digital world. The Focus groups results were illustrated by an infographic and one of the results of the Manifesto is a one-page document comprising 20 useful tips for becoming a responsible digital user and citizen.
