Culture for Cities and Regions is an initiative of the European Commission, fully funded through the Creative Europe programme. The project is managed by a consortium led by EUROCITIES, with KEA European Affairs and the European Regions Research and Innovation Network. The project runs from January 2015 to September 2017.
This €1 million project funded under the Creative Europe programme (DG EAC) aims to take stock of existing practices all over Europe to exchange and promote transfer of knowledge, to better understand successful cases of cultural investment, and to go into the details of policy planning and implementation.
Three main dimensions will be explored throughout this project:
- culture and the creative industries for local economic development and urban regeneration
- cultural heritage as a driver for economic growth and social inclusion
- culture for social inclusion, social innovation and intercultural dialogue
During this three-year project, it was proposed and produced a catalogue of 70 case studies. Following an open call to all interested cities and regions, were identified 71 practices from all over Europe and gathered them in this catalogue. Its purpose is to foster the exchange of information and promote peer-to-peer learning.
The project is funded under the Creative Europe programme, please find more information on the programme here.
