Stops in Seville and Euromechan in Malaga

The participants of the third mobility returned from Spain under the project "On the way to a better profession - the second stop Seville", thanks to the funds from the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development (PO WER). More than 150 students of the School Complex No. 1 in Olkusz have already participated in foreign internships.

The group of twenty, which returned from a month-long stay in Seville on 22 May, was preceded by others. In the 2016/2017 school year, forty students took part in work placements in Germany under the ERASMUS+ programme. Another project under this program enabled fifty-seven students to improve their professional, language and interpersonal skills in Seville between 2017 and 2019. The project "On the way to a better profession - the second Seville stop" is currently underway. However, it does not end there. In July, the first mobility called 'Euromechan _Spanish inspirations in Polish technical school' will be launched. This time, twenty students from the second year of technical school after elementary school will do their internships in Spanish companies in Malaga, and in September, their peers from classes after secondary school will do the same. The third mobility within this project is planned for May 16, 2022. The school already has experience in organizing foreign internships and does not stop there, but continues to strive to enable the next generation to participate in foreign internships as part of future projects.

First steps on foreign soil...

The participants of the third mobility started their stop for a better profession by getting acclimatized on Spanish soil. As they arrived on Saturday, they had time for that. They started exploring this attractive country from one of the oldest metropolises in the world, Malaga. On Sundays they got acquainted with the city they were to associate with the most. During those four weeks they traveled the length and breadth of Seville, wandering through narrow streets and visiting mysterious gardens. They also admired it from the observation deck of the famous Las Setas, one of the largest wooden buildings in the world. Starting Monday, the hours before lunch began to be filled with work. Those from TPS went to the car repair shop, logisticians to one company, electricians to another, etc... Everyone had their own tutor who introduced them to their duties, explained them and gave them advice. In what language...? Spanish, English... The students overcame language barriers and convinced themselves that they were able to cope!

Spain with all senses

Time after work was filled with intense learning about the local culture. The young people absorbed Spain with all their senses: breathtaking views of Cordoba, Cádiz, Ithalica, parrots flying over their heads, close experiences with ocean waves, tasting churros, snails and grilled shrimps... There was also something for soccer fans - visiting FC Sevilla stadium. Those fans who feel more comfortable on the pitch than in the stands could play a match against their Spanish peers. The meeting took place on the pitch of one of the oldest vocational training institutions in Seville.

The best of Spain

"Getting to know a completely new culture, language, people and a different cuisine was an amazing experience that I will remember for a long time." - sums up Dawid, a student of the logistics class. "It was fantastic! It is indescribable. I met great people and I promised myself that I will come back there again. - Julia shares her impressions.

Mateusz, a graduate of mechatronic technician, recalls last year's trip in the following way: "It was an extraordinary adventure, we did a lot of sightseeing. Gibraltar made the biggest impression on me. Practical use of English was an amazing experience. I found out that I am able to cope abroad - I can get along. My confidence has definitely grown." The experience, the memories and a valuable point on the CV will remain.
