A series of Basic Job Skills Profiles has been created by Vox, Norwegian Agency for Lifelong Learning. The profiles are a tool meant to facilitate the design of basic skills courses tailored to the needs of each work place and individual learner. The profiles describe how each of the basic skills are used by workers in a particular occupation. Based on one of these profiles, the Profile for Kindergarten Assistant, Vox has created an example of how these materials can be used to create individual self-assessment tests which can be used both as initial motivational tool and as a base for slef-assessment of progress. Similar tests can be created based on the other profiles in the series. Vox will be interested in receiving information about how these tools have been adapted and used outside Norway. Such information can be sent to the Norwegian NSS.
