REVIEW OF THE CONDITION OF THE SECTOR FOR ADULT LEARNING IN BULGARIA
This review of the condition of the sector for adult learning has been prepared by the team of the National unit supporting the Electronic platform for adult learning in Europe (EPALE) for the purpose of informing the professional community and the public in Bulgaria of the progress in the implementation of the national goals stipulated in the strategic documents, namely:
- Increasing the involvement of the population aged 25-64 in education and training from 1.5% in the year 2012 to more than 5% in 2020;
- Reducing the number of early school leavers aged 18-24 from 12.5% in the year 2012 to below 11% in 2020;
- Increasing the employment of the population aged 20-64 from 63% in 2012 to 76% in 2020.
There is also some additional data on the educational structure of the population in Bulgaria, the involvement of adults in the formal system of education and training and the young people aged 15-24 who are neither in employment, nor in education or training.
We have also analyzed the up-to-date statistical and empirical information published by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and the Statistical Office of the European Union (EUROSTAT) for the period from 2012 to 2015.
