Nexus Newsletter (4/2014), the quarterly newsletter of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning

This Newsletter (October – December 2014) of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) is about some initiatives for 2015:

UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities aims to mobilize cities to become learning cities by demonstrating how their resources can be used most effectively to provide their inhabitants with a wealth of learning opportunities. The 2nd International Conference of Learning Cities, which is currently being prepared, will provide a forum for sharing ideas on how to foster an effective learning culture.

The next issue of the Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE III) will give insights into the wider benefits of adult learning. It will provide evidence that investing in adult education and learning bears fruit in the areas of health and well-being, local community development, and employability and the labour market.

Finally, RAMAA – an action research project on measuring learning outcomes of participation in literacy programmes – will bring together experts from several different countries and contexts to develop measurement tools and use these for monitoring and evaluation.
