Nature Experience and Education for People with Disabilities

In this guideline, nature educationists find suggestions how to plan, prepare, organise and realise guided nature tours for groups of persons with different disabilities. The brochure consists of two parts. In the first part, the user gets some theoretical information, for instance, useful advice for a successful interaction with disabled people. In the second part, suggestions and examples for possible programmes have been compiled. We use an icon systems for a good orientation when selecting appropriate methods or programmes for a concrete target group. Touching the senses of people is one important part of our concept. Hence, no one has yet gone to the bother of collecting the methods and approaches which do not rely on the ability to see/ hear/ move without restriction and compile them for usage with impaired people. Some obvious examples here are bird songs and what you hear from them, fungi, how they feel and smell, different kinds of wood, how they sound and what you can learn from that, crickets in the wild, frog croaks, taste of wild plants and what this means.
