Leadership and the italian social economy. The "Di Vittorio" case study
Purpose – the aim of this paper is to define the characteristics of leadership in the social economy sector.
Design/methodology/approach – the paradigm is ecologic; the epistemology is naturalistic; the method is the Grounded Theory; the strategy is case-study; the technique is qualitative interviews.
Findings – there is a relevant difference between management and leadership, especially referring to the pedagogical research field. There is a huge gap between the topics/subjects ‘leadership’ and ‘social economy’. There is little literature that deals with these subject in this field.
Practical implications – the results of the present study offer some inputs about the attributes/competences that a leader in the social economy should have.
Originality/added value – This paper investigates the attributes of the social economy leaders through empirical qualitative research and in-depth interviews.
