Grundtvig Learning Partnerships: A guide to a cooperative business model

“Learning, Steady, Coop!” is a guide to entrepreneurs. The guide is funded by Grundtvigs Learning Partnerships.

The guide provides entrepreneurs about how the cooperative business model can be a solution, when you want to start a company.

Starting a business can be associated with a high degree of uncertainty due to the many unknown factors that can be connected to entrepreneurship. Especially, as being new in the industry general elements like business development- and practice seem difficult to reach. These thoughts have led to the guide “Ready, Steady, Coop!”, which clarifies the benefits it may have, as entrepreneur to cooperate with a cooperative business.

In “Ready, Steady, Coop!” it says that the main conditions for the cooperative business model, is that the entrepreneur should have a mentor – someone who can provide knowledge, understanding and practical application.

An active partnership may be beneficial even if the entrepreneur is in the startup phase, and need some general advice for the initial phase. The partnership can also be very central in the later process where essential and complex decisions have to be taken.

The process of partnership can be divided in three phases:

  • Evaluate the idea
  • Assign the right mentor
  • Leverage the organization structure

The advantages of a partnership will be personal development, development of self-knowledge and self-awareness, improving skills, giving feedback, sharing of networks, assessment of the organization or business and raising awareness and visibility of the organization.
