Getting the practical teaching element right: a guide for literacy, numeracy and ESOL teacher educators

Language: EN

Posted by Zoltan Varkonyi

This guide is intended as a resource for teacher educators in designing and organising their programmes.

It is based on recent research and development from NRDC and elsewhere, plus interviews with teacher educators who have developed programmes with strong integration of theory and practice as well as of subject specific and pedagogical knowledge. For example, it reviews different models of teaching practice, partnerships in which organisations with different expertise encourage each other’s development, and best practice in assessing teaching practice, including formative and summative assessment.
