Adult education is an element of lifelong education and learning system and is an inseparable part of lifelong education. Adult education helps the individual to live in harmony with himself, society and the environment and helps individuals to gain a personality. In adult education, the education given to individuals should be of a quality that improves the lives of individuals in a positive way, encourages individuals to apply the information they've learned and teaches them to question the facts of life. It is necessary to develop and enrich lifelong learning in order for the learning process to continue actively.

Adult learners are motivated to learn if they know why they're learning the information and what they learn is appropriate to their own values. Namely, intrinsic motivation in adult education is one of the basic principles of education. Adults with high motivation when learning, use the information they learn more in their daily lives. Motivation is essential for the realization of learning; that is to say, learning can't happen without motivation. Individuals learn more easily when they really want to learn and think that the information they learn will help them. What is important in adult education is that the teacher is well aware of the motives that lead adults to learn. This facilitates learning and improves efficiency.
