The « Journal de l’alpha » is a quarterly journal which addresses issues related to numeracy and literacy training. This issue deals with the benefits of organising debates and discussions on philosophical and social problems in the framework of literacy training. It explores concrete teaching practices and techniques and shows that they are essential to provide the truly emancipatory training which characterizes popular education.
