Boostin social INclusion of migrants through CREAtive industries: Identification of skills and gaps of target migrants
The purpose of the document is to identify the current situation and gaps between migrants’ level of skills regarding their language, digital and entrepreneurial competences and the actual needs existing in the creative industries sector. The goal is to establish the main skills (language, digital, entrepreneurial) required in the creative sector for migrants to foster entrepreneurship and gradually their own social inclusion in the European economy and societies.Towards that end, a survey was conducted in national level and ARNERA as the leader of Intellectual Output 1, with the contribution of all partners, created different questionnaires addressing both migrants and stakeholders’ needs. In particular, 5 questionnaires were created accordingly:- A questionnaire for migrants addressing language skills, asking about their language preferences and level of knowledge- A questionnaire for migrants addressing digital skills, asking about the use of different digital media to identify their level of digital skills- A questionnaire for migrants addressing entrepreneurial skills, with questions about their level of skills and willingness to be members or even create their own business in Europe- A questionnaire for social workers working directly with migrants, asking their opinion and experience in the social inclusion of migrants- A questionnaire for other stakeholders and entrepreneurs, including questions regarding their needs and the skills that migrants should have in order to be included in their businesses or open their own ones as well as questions about their willingness to involve migrants/refugees in their businesses. The questionnaires about language skills were created following the frameworks, quality standards and the regulations of the EQF, in accordance with Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for levels B1, B2. However, the results showed that the level was rather lower than B2, a fact that led the partners to adjust the training materials.Digital Skills questionnaire was based on the DigComp 2.0 framework that identifies the key components of digital competence in 5 areas which can be summarised as following: Information and data literacy; Communication and collaboration; Digital content creation; Safety; Problem solving. The entrepreneurial skills was based on the ENTRECOMP European Framework. All partners conducted research in their participating countries, while DomSpain and UPI managed to receive answers from countries outside the partnership exploiting their network and expertise on the migration area. The questionnaires were distributed by all partners both online and in paper and was available in all partner languages as well as English, while the objective of reaching out 250 in total was achieved, while the number of total answers exceeded the expected one (193 answers from migrants and 115 in total from stakeholders and social workers). All feedback and data received was collected, analyzed and reported by ARNERA, with the contribution of all project partners. The report included the key results and conclusions drawn during the national research phase, while it gave a clear overview concerning language, digital and entrepreneurial competencies needed by migrants to start a creative business in European societies and how those societies are ready and eager to include them; The comparison analysis report was the basis to develop the training courses including criteria for selecting topics that can cover the target group’ needs forming recommendations for the training.
