Posted by Linda JUNTUNEN

Nordic network for adult learning (NVL), Alfarådet - the Nordic Adult Literacy network and Finnish National Agency for Education organized an ALFA19 - Nordic conference on literacy in Espoo, Finland.

The primary target group of the conference was Nordic teachers who teach adults with no or very short formal schooling, who need basic literacy training and who do not have the Nordic languages as their mother tongue. The conference focused on a variety of ways to develop students' basic literacy skills and strengthen their linguistic awareness, oral skills and digital literacy.

The Finnish EPALE team was there as well and streamed some of the sessions and interviewed two keynote speakers. Please find the interviews with Leena Nissilä and Anna Winlund below. The streams of the presentations are in Youtube.

Anna Winlund, University lecturer, PhD student in Swedish as a second language, University of Gothenburg

Leena Nissilä, Counsellor of education, Finnish National Agency for Education
