This article highlights the importance of adult and community education as a pathway to further study and work. It looks at how this form of education provides flexible, lifelong learning opportunities that support social inclusion and access to work-based learning for citizens, and how this learning option has been affected by the pandemic.

Ireland’s Education Yearbook has established itself as the indispensable guide to the world of education in Ireland, bridging the gap between practitioners, managers, researchers and policy-makers.

The mission of Ireland’s Education Yearbook is to record, year-on-year, in print and online, the story of Irish education. A think-tank on teaching and learning, the Yearbook aims to engage the education community in debate and to constitute a catalyst for positive progress in the Irish education system.

Thank you for the article. Despite the fact that we are teachers for youngsters we fully support the idea of the importance for adult education as well. A great project described in this article allows adults' further professional growths and it also allows learners to reach new goals. We believe that the key role of adult education is to allow workers to develop their skills and acquire new ones. In the pandemic time it gives adults a chance to retrain, which is particularly important to people who will need to work past pension age and need support to train for a new role. In general, education in modern world is a privilege that not that many people have. Actually, in our opinion, one of the major characteristics of education is that it has no age. People are never too young or too old to be educated.  Adult education is very important nowadays. Especially for adults, who did not have the opportunity to receive proper education at a younger age. Education is, after all, eternal process and for some people, the right type of education might be something they will find later in life. We can not be sure the path we choose as a youngster will be the path that we will stick to and be interested in forever. Therefore, we appreciate the experience of Ireland and wish Latvia had the same.
