In a modern society that implies globalization and hence the mobility of different people, migrants and asylum seekers, as well as significant economic and social diversity, there is a requirement of effective responses to these challenges and issues. Great social and economic problems in almost all countries, regardless of their current development and status, are religious inequality, social exclusion, high unemployment rates, further marginalization of particular social classes and other differences. The huge wave of migrants/asylum seekers and the massive influx of people from third countries places an increasing number of EU countries in a very sensitive social and economic position, in addition to the already existing issues of other vulnerable groups in the EU. If we compare the analysis of the situations in Croatia (transition country of asylum/migrants) the problems are similar. Collaboration and co-ordination of all stakeholders is an absolute necessity for the effectiveness of solving these issues - the link between adult education and the labor market. This project is of utmost importance because of the need to link education at all levels and educational institutions with the labour market and other stakeholders, related to the secondary target group of migrants and asylum seekers. The analysis found that neither partner country has any interest in providing specific knowledge and skills to work on linking vulnerable target groups to the labour market. That initiated the idea of testing an innovative curriculum for education of teachers for training the employees of educational institutions with the aim of increasing their competences for working with migrants and asylum seekers and educating stakeholders/employers. It will also contribute to the inclusion of secondary target groups in the education process and will not only have social, but economic and socialization benefits for the target groups and the environment in which they live.
Key Project Activities: Establishing the EU key competence center with a joint strategy mission and approach methodology for linking education and labour markets with the aim of addressing the migration crisis in the EU. With the exchange of educational programs among the project partners, the EU center and partners in the project will have the capacity to continue jointly with the EU. The implementation of an innovative curriculum consisting of 4 modules, whereby all partner staff participate in education, and each partner is the partner of further education in the partner country, will educate the stakeholders/employers and their staff on the basis of the curriculum developed through educational workshops based on the created pedagogical material within all andragogical standards. Project activities include evaluation of the project itself, visibility and dissemination of project publications in print and electronic media, and organization of final conference, research and analysis of project development and quality of the project.
Throughout the project, we will use the methodology - the application of different learning and teaching methods based on andragogical principles and contemporary principles of interactive communication: Focus Groups, Group Workshops, Workshops based on a particular topic, Role Playing, Audio Visual Education, Group Discussion, Teaching Guests, Method of presentation, group work methods, team work methods, methods of individual work.
During the joint creation of a policy of linking education with the labour market, setting up an EU curriculum certificate to be applied and used by all project partners, one of the elements of the innovation of the project is the new online presentation and education method. During the project lifecycle, key results will be generated (EU key competence centers, educators training, stakeholder/employer education curriculum, accompanying pedagogical literature, promotional materials) that will be published on the project website with the aim of dissemination and visibility of the project.
A key benchmark for achieving results is the education of at least 20 participants from partner organizations and at least 30 participants from stakeholder/employer organizations. The results of the project will bring durability and be available to other interested parties through commercialization, validation of curriculum in all partner countries, and at a later stage in other interested countries. In this way, we will first achieve the goal of expanding and exploiting through the implementation of project results at national and the EU level. Another goal to be achieved will contribute to the implementation and design of national and European policies and systems. There will also be support for further project sustainability, such as for national curricular certification, the establishment of a European certificate with the continuation of the project in the form of new projects.
