WHO WE ARE
Progetto Accoglienza e Integrazione – PAI is a social cooperative founded in 2016 that operates in the first reception and social and health support of migrants in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, Italy.
PAI educators accompany political asylum seekers and refugees on a daily basis in acquiring basic skills for their initial placement and survival. This training activity mainly involves individual, coaching, and mentoring activities, with the support of cultural language mediation. The areas of intervention of educators concern literacy, legal assistance, health care, job search and of the house.
The cooperative manage these services:
• 5 Centers for Extraordinary Reception – CAS
• 2 points of the Reception and Integration System – SAI
• cultural linguistic mediation.
THIS PROJECT
PAI has gained experience in assisting asylum-seekers and refugees, offering training in literacy, social-health and legal support, job search. A large segment of migrants lack local support networks and adequate skills for integration, and remain in a passive attitude, incapable of expressing protagonism.
To add emancipation paths to the initial reception, PAI must intervene on three priorities.
I. Customize training courses
• The migration experience is different for each person, with specific needs related to age, cultural background and expectations.
• It is necessary for the cooperative to move beyond standardized training models, learning to design tailor-made paths.
II. Recognizing and enhancing the skills of migrants
• Migrants often possess formal and informal skills that are not recognized.
• Educators must develop practical tools to detect, document and validate beneficiaries' skills, making them usable in the labour market.
III. Creating a European network for a stable training system
• The reception and training of migrants cannot be limited to isolated interventions; in fact, they require networking actions.
• It is essential to draw on the experiences of training institutions that are more advanced to import good practices, develop common methodologies and ensure a continuous and innovative training system for migrants.
WHAT WE ASK TO THE HOSTING PARTNERS
Desire to initiate paths of mutual knowledge in function of possible future developments on other Erasmus+ projects, such as small-scale partnerships KA210 and then strategic partnerships KA220, with a view to
• progressive growth
• sharing know-how
• ongoing innovation, research and development activities.
We ask the hosting partner
• the willingness to define through online meetings an initial training program (to be reviewed when the mobility experience will begins)
• the presentation by the partner hosting of the country context and the practices of accompanying migrants implemented,
• field observation of the services provided by the hosting partner,
• the shared analysis of the training model applied by the partner hosting and of the training for staff, identifying the resources necessary for implementation, the conditions of success and the obstacles for the implementation of the model,
• the shared development of a transferability plan for the partner hosting model in the context of the sending organization,
• the evaluation of the follow-up, through online meeting,
• simple logistical information to organize the stay.
