HEAeLders | Healthy Ageing Schools and Digitally Upskilled Carers for Elders

24 Months - (01.01.2023 – 31.12.2024)

Context: As people get older, their health and social care need become increasingly complex. Offering people more choices and access to a team of health and social care providers will support their independent living and make their carers more informative about the possible diseases. This service can contribute to providing cost savings for service providers while at the same time providing comfortable care and peace of mind for service users and caregivers.

The HEAeLders project will provide health trainings:

• for elders to identify their diseases and keep up with possible problems of these diseases,
• for carers to track the diseases through tests (e.g. blood pressure) and elders’ behaviours,
• for social care providers to implement in their own facilities.

Target Groups: The HEAeLders project aims to create tailor-made healthy ageing schools’ materials both on the physical and physiological development of elders in terms of healthy lifestyles. The main target groups will be elders aged 65+ and their carers (their children, carer, physicians, etc.) and the stakeholders (beneficiaries) will be institutions such as eldercare centres, local gov’ts giving this service, hospitals and universities having geriatrics and gerontology departments and their staff.

The Partner is likely expected from the (Programme) countries - Beside Turkey - that have higher numbers for elders’ population and giving elders healthy ageing practices, preventative healthcare.

The Project Partnership:

Pendik Municipality (Coordinator)

• A Municipality (located in an Erasmus Programme Country – not in Turkey; has a population more than 80k) - The municipality needs to provide healthcare and socialisation opportunities for the adults for their active ageing.
• A University – which can create a training module for carers and elders on the chronicle diseases and keeping up with these diseases with the perception of gerontology.
• A Social Health Care Provider/Clinic/Hospital having physiotherapists and/or ergo therapists and would like to implement the final outcomes of the project in their facility.

• Please give brief information on geriatric diseases in your city and your country (data, number of elders (65+) living in your city, main diseases of these elders, so on.
• Please elaborate on your previous KA204 (KA220 ADU) project (if any) that can be complementary to this project idea.
