Volkshochschule und Musikschule Bingen am Rhein e.V.
In terms of its size, VHS Bingen is the third largest Volkshochschule (adult education centre) in Rhineland-Palatinate. In 2023, it recorded over 75,000 teaching units, serving 4,834 learners with 362 teaching staff and 21 non-teaching staff.
The main activities of vhs Bingen encompass a broad range of learning programs in the areas of society, culture, health, languages, professional/IT skills, basic education, school leaving qualifications, and educational leave. A particular focus is placed on German, integration, and citizenship courses, which accounted for almost half of the teaching units in 2023. Its programs are generally open to all people and social groups, regardless of gender, age, nationality, social background, or political worldview. The institution has a special commitment to educationally disadvantaged individuals. In addition to individuals, companies and public institutions are also among its clients. For integration, they directly address people who have recently arrived in Germany and work closely with institutions that support newcomers. Their goal is to reach as many people as possible with their high-quality and affordable educational offerings.
The structure of the institution includes the Volkshochschule, Musikschule, Educational Counseling Center, Learning Center/Learning Space, and the Young Art Workshop. For the adult education sector, to which the Erasmus accreditation applies, the Volkshochschule, Musikschule, and Learning Center/Learning Space are relevant.
vhs Bingen confirms its adherence to the EU values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities, as enshrined in the EU Treaties and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
