EPALE - Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

Rotenburger Werke

Germany.

We are a diaconal company with a long tradition and over 2,000 employees located between Bremen and Hamburg in northern Germany. Our core task: We "assist" people with intellectual disabilities - we support people in being able to shape their lives as self-determined as possible and to experience equal participation. This requires complex learning processes for both teachers and learners, focused on attitudes, values, skills and knowledge. Our services include: Informal educational activities within our residential, recreational and day support services, as well as school and vocational training.

We are applying to Erasmus+ for the first time in 2023 as part of a short-term project in adult education.

Idea of the application:

Strengthening life skills through informal educational processes e.g. in contexts like living, leisure/culture, church life.

Aim of the application:

  • We would like to enable adult people with learning difficulties and developmental delays to spend time abroad in comparably safe spaces in order to strengthen their abilities to shape their lives in a self-determined way and to experience more participation.

  • We would like to enable staff members to spend time abroad in the form of short-term stays or job shadowing, which will improve their skills in accompanying and empowering people with disabilities.

Perspective:

We are aiming for accreditation in adult education in 2024. For this we are looking for partner organizations in Europe in the future.

Further perspective:

We are also active in the educational areas of school (special school with a focus on mental development) and vocational education (participant-oriented vocational education for people with handicaps and professional training in curative education) and are therefore also open to inquiries from these areas.

We look forward to receiving your letters - preferably to:
