Innlandet County Library is a departement in Innlandet County Municipality. The County Library is a department in Innlandet County Municipality. We are a competence centre for all public libraries and school libraries in upper secondary schools in Innlandet County. We`ve got 12 employees, mostly library advisors and project managers, but we also have a Book .bus for childrens literature. 

Innlandet County Library offer services to 46 municipal public libraries and school libraries in 25 upper secondary schools. Our Book Bus offer library services to more then 30 primary schools throughout our County. 

Innlandet County Library was established in january 2020, after the merger of Oppland County and Hedmark County. Both Oppland and Hedmark County Library had experience from different Erasmus+ projects, Grundtvig partnerships, EEA-Grants and INTERREG-projects.   

We are located in the city Gjøvik, with the Head office in Hamar.

Our Strategy

Our work is based our Cultural strategy for Innlandet County Municipality 2022–2026. The strategy gives the county council's work in the cultural field a clear direction with clear priorities.

Our goals in the strategy are:

1. The library is the local community's central arena for democracy and education.
   Strategies:

• Take an active part in developing libraries as relevant meeting places in the local community.
• Facilitate citizens' formal and non-formal learning by strengthening the libraries' role as knowledge manager and learning arena in collaboration with other providers of lifelong learning.
• Strengthen cooperation and social networks in the local community for inclusion and increased public health.
• Develop libraries as arenas for co-creation

2. “Litteraturfylket” (the Literature County) Innlandet has innovative arenas for dissemination of literature, that promote a desire to read and the joy of reading.
   Strategies:

• Prioritize collaborative projects regionally, nationally and internationally, which support and further develop “Litteraturfylket” Innlandet.
• Contribute to activities in the libraries that promote reading and digital competence and take responsibility for the development and promotion of digital content in the libraries. 
• Strengthen the offer in the Book bus to be able to reaches more children.

3. The libraries have a high level of expertise through increased collaboration and development.
   Strategies:

• Prioritize outward-looking, interdisciplinary activities in collaboration with external partners in various areas of expertise who will contribute to regional library development. We will make sure there is a relevant competence development plan, that is in accordance with the libraries' needs. 
• Initiate physical and digital meeting places for collaboration, development and skills enhancement.
